WNET PBCore Record Repository project

Written by DaveRice on Monday, November 24, 2008

As presented at AMIA, see http://pbcore.vermicel.li/. It is a Ruby on Rails front-end on a MySQL backend that can import, export, and manipulate PBCore records. It currently contains sample records from PBS and WILL. Feel free to import, create, delete, or edit records here. Any feedback on this project can be sent to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

I uploaded a few of WILL’s PBCore records into the vermicelli tool, and it worked flawlessly for that.  I realize this is currently a sandbox, but it seems very close to being much more than that.  I dig the integration of the Picklist generator, enabling the creation of controlled vocabularies within the application.  Very cool!

How about a search engine next?

There is a search engine in it and it uses OpenSearch, thus if you use Firefox when you’re on the page, you can select “Add PBCore Search” from the search bar dropdown list (the one where you select Yahoo, Google, Wikipedia, etc).

The question mark next to the search bar links to the search markup language. http://pbcore.vermicel.li/static/search_help

    Dave, this is great!

Tell me, would you be interested in exporting the table structure as SQL?  I would like to look at the data model.
